    Supporting the Redlands Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution means supporting our chapter’s youth programs.

    These programs include administering the Knight Essay Contest for high school sophomores, juniors or seniors , recognizing outstanding students in junior ROTC and ROTC, and recognizing outstanding Eagle Scouts. These programs are targeted to our future leaders and their educators, helping to ensure the history of the American Revolution is passed from generation to generation. Each program fosters Americanism within a community of youth. Your support will enables these programs to grow, reaching more youth with greater rewards.

    Eagle Scout Recognition Program

    For many years, the S.A.R. has recognized the many common bonds of principle and purpose shared by the S.A. R. and the Boy Scouts of America. You young men achieving the rank of Eagle Scout have demonstrated your belief in these common principles. For this reason, the S.A.R. believes that Eagle Scouts are deserving of special recognition for their accomplishment and dedication. We invite all Eagle Scouts of the Greyback District of the California Inland Empire Council to send us a formal invitation to your Eagle Scout Court of Honor where we will honor you with the "Good Citizenship" medal and certificate.

    EAGLE SCOUT SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

    Open to all Eagle Scouts who are currently registered in an active unit and have not reached their 19th birthday during the year of application.  The year that Eagle was awarded is not restricted.  Three cash scholarship awards are given: As the National First Place winner - $8,000.00; Runner-up - $4,000.00; 2nd runner-up - $2,000.00.

     

    Tom & Betty Lawrence American History Teacher Award

    The Tom & Betty Lawrence American History Teacher Award winner will represent a teacher whose instruction on the Revolutionary War era from 1750 - 1800 demonstrates educational efforts in the classroom that exceed and excel above current, accepted, curriculum requirements.

     

     

     

     


    JROTC Recognition Program

    The Redlands SAR awards the ROTC Medal to foster the principle of the "citizen-soldier", exemplified by the Minutemen of Revolutionary War days.  This award is presented to JROTC cadets who are selected for having a high degree of merit with respect to leadership qualities, military bearing and general excellence.

    Col. John E. Ford Memorial Scholarship Fund

    This is an annual award of $500 with a Silver ROTC medal and certificate. This award is preaenter to an outstanding Air Force ROTC cadet at Cal State San Bernardino who has committed to military service.


    Americanism Elementary School Poster Contest 

    This contest is directed at students in the 5th grade year in whick the American Revolution history is taught.  The National Society Elementary School Poster Contest will stimulate interest in American History in support of the Fifth Grade Curriculum
